We sourced this classic Eames shell chair from a Mid-Century Modern collector in Oak Park who, much like us, had developed a bit of a chair problem.

Designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller, the molded fiberglass shell is one of the most recognizable forms of 20th-century American design. This example, dated March 4, 1975, pairs the upholstered arm shell with its original four-star aluminum pedestal base.

The upholstery has certainly lived a life since 1975, but that's exactly why we like finding these before they've already been restored. It gives us the opportunity to start over while preserving the original fiberglass shell and aluminum base underneath.

This chair will be completely stripped of its existing upholstery, fitted with new foam, and fully reupholstered in the fabric of your choice. The base and remaining original components will also be cleaned and restored as part of the process.
