We purchased this modular Danish room divider along with four more bays from a source we know, and immediately fell in love with the minimalist simplicity of its design.
At first glance, it's an incredibly simple system. Teak uprights, shelves, and beautifully proportioned components. Look a little closer, though, and you start to see just how thoughtfully it was designed.
The ends of the shelves and components are cut away to allow the uprights to sit recessed within them. When multiple bays are joined together, the adjoining surfaces can sit nearly edge to edge, with the upright tucked neatly between them rather than creating an awkward gap. It's a small detail, but one that makes the entire system feel exceptionally clean and intentional.
This single-bay configuration includes three original teak shelves, including one not pictured. It can also be expanded into a two- or three-bay system. We have eight additional vintage solid wood shelves with original vintage teak surfaces available.
Use it against a wall as a modular library or bookcase, or let its open construction work as originally intended, as a freestanding room divider that looks just as good from either side.
Complete refinishing is included in the price. Prior to delivery, we will sand and refinish every teak panel and shelf, applying a fresh clear finish to bring the teak back to life while preserving the character of the original material—all at no additional cost.
